Trainings: Dually certified as a birth and bereavement doula through the Stillbirthday Organization formally trained and certified as a postpartum doula through DONA International, up to date First Aid and CPR/AED for all age groups, psychological first aid training, Holding Space for Abortion training, spinning babies workshop training, exploring the labyrinth for birth training, and Babywearing Educator training.
Advocacy and activism are at the heart of what Lawren does; She volunteered with the Save Burdett Birth Center Coalition (SBBCC) and the Sling Babies of the Capital District babywearing group.
Lawren comes from a background in early childhood education and is currently in pursuit of her Nursing degree.
Lawren has a son who’s birth she hired doulas for (and was satisfied with) but she did not hire help for postpartum (which was ultimately challenging and at times, traumatic). The juxtaposition of having support in birth and then not having support in her early postpartum helped her to quickly realize how crucial professional help during the childbearing years can be. She wanted to be a part of the change she wanted to see within the birthing community.
